OVERVIEW

StarkPower’s “ULTRA” and “ULTRASTART” Lithium-ion Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery models are the ultimate in weight versus power technology along with having the safest, most powerful Lithium-ion Chemistry (FePO4). These are a drop in replacement for your Lead-acid battery, and will require no change to your existing system. The  “ULTRA” and “ULTRASTART” are available in many different case sizes that accommodate all the different powersports battery needs.

The "ULTRA" starter batteries have an internal microprocessor controlled cell balancer for added performance and battery life.

There are three main objectives common to all Battery Management Systems (BMS) are:

  • Protect the cells or the battery from damage from overcharging or discharging too low.

  • Prolong the life of the battery with cell balancing.

  • Maintain the battery in a safe operating state.

Because of its light weight, safety, excellent thermal stability, long life, good electrochemical properties as well a very high specific energy density, StarkPower's Lithium-ion Iron Phosphate batteries are the best choice to replace lead acid batteries.  Dimensions equal to the standard battery for direct replace.

ULTRA

StarkPower’s  “ULTRA” has an Internal cell balancing circuit  that is processor controlled inside each of it’s “ULTRA” batteries to maximize the performance and life of the battery pack.  No expensive charger maintainer is needed to do cell balancing service.  Lithium-ion cells over time will drift having different capacity, some having higher or lower voltages.  This difference in cell voltage will damage the individual cell thus drastically reducing the life and performance of the battery pack.

ULTRASTART

StarkPower’s “ULTRASTART” has the same features (cell balancing) as the “ULTRA” but with additional features. StarkPower’s “ULTRASTART” has a processor controlled Battery Management System (BMS) inside each case to monitor each cell to prevent over charging, over discharging (voltage draining too low) along with cell temperature monitoring. Should any of the cells reach outside of its allowable specifications, the terminal power will turn off.  These are added performance and convenience features to prevent a battery from being damaged or in the event a battery is left unattended for a long time. These added features also prevent the battery from over-charging when attached to other charging equipment or charging failure. In the event a lower cut-off voltage is reach, the battery terminals will have 0V on them. 

The battery needs to be “kick started” with a charger (using a StarkPower charger) that has a battery voltage on the terminals.  That will turn ON the battery again and start taking a charge.  Some charges need to sense the battery voltage first, thus will not turn on or take a charge.  In the event over-charging condition is reached, the battery terminals will have 0V.  Turning off the charger and letting the battery rest a couple minutes should allow the battery to turn ON again and operate.

In the “ULTRASTART” models, the processor controlled Battery Management System (BMS) has the ability to provide reserve engine start-up power when needed. At motorcycle rallies or gatherings, owners of heavily accessorized motorcycle often want to keep their radios or lights on when parked, possibly draining standard lead-acid batteries too much. The “ULTRASTART” automatically senses excess drainage status, shutting all accessories off, while maintaining sufficient reserve power to start the engine. This is known as StarkPower’s “IQ RESTART TECHNOLOGY”- Adequate reserve power is left in the battery, to automatically detect starting effort with a key cycle and allows users to start the engine again and not leaving you stranded or with the headache of calling for service or even needing to replace the battery. A significant advantage of the ‘ULTRASTART” technology and a major selling point is the “IQ Restart Technology”.

CHARGING:

Only use STARKPOWER’s lithium-ion battery charger. Warranty voided if battery used with other chargers.  Using lead acid chargers that charge up to 16V, along with leaving them ON, will damage the Lithium-ion battery.

LIFESPAN:

Up to 10 years.

CONNECTING THE BATTERY:

The StarkPower “ULTRA” battery is designed with M6 screw terminals, this makes it easy to replace the stock lead-acid battery.

SELF_DISCHARGE:

StarkPower batteries have a very low self-discharge rate. The “ULTRA” and "ULTRASTART" batteries will last for over a year in storage.

WARRANTY INFORMATION:

Warranty: 1 year StarkPower Inc warrants only to the original purchaser of this product that this product is free of defects in material and workmanship for 1 year from time of purchase as indicated on the receipt or invoice. This product will be replaced within the 1 year period as long as the buyer contacts StarkPower within this time period (by telephone or email communication). This warranty does NOT cover damage to the product caused by abuse or neglect, modification by tampering with the product casing, failure to keep the battery properly charged or maintained, disposal in a fire, freezing, theft, overcharging, or other forms of damage. This warranty shall be in lieu of any other warranty, express or implied, including but not limited to, any implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.
